Thank you for another successful St. Jude Thanks and Giving

Thanks to generous support from donors, corporate partners and celebrities, the 2013 St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign successfully raised critical funds to support the hospital’s lifesaving mission. As we look forward to this year’s holiday campaign, we want to thank all our supporters for your help.

During the last holiday season, retailers such as Kmart, CVS/pharmacy, ANN INC, Domino’s and more than 60 of America's best-loved brands joined together to ask shoppers to support the St. Jude mission of finding cures and saving children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

What began as a holiday-focused fundraising effort has grown into an annual tradition that has raised more than $487 million over the past ten years to help St. Jude provide cutting-edge treatment and pursue visionary research. These funds are critical given that no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. Their efforts paid off spectacularly – the campaign raised more than $97 million to support the children of St. Jude.

Also helping boost awareness for the 2013 campaign was a star-studded roster of celebrities including Jennifer Aniston, the late Robin Williams, Michael Strahan, Sofia Vergara, Shaun White, Luis Fonsi and many more who offered their time and talent to support the lifesaving mission of the hospital.

“Since the beginning of the campaign, we have been blessed to have the extraordinary support from our wonderful donors, our loving celebrity friends and our dedicated corporate partners,” said Marlo Thomas, national outreach director for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “Their participation in the St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign means so much to the children and their moms and dads.”

On the digital front, St. Jude rallied partners, celebrity friends and supporters for a social media takeover on Nov. 25 using #ThanksandGiving. The hashtag became the third trending topic in the U.S. that day.

It costs $2 million to operate the hospital each day, and unlike other hospitals, more than 75 percent of that funding comes from the public through campaigns like St. Jude Thanks and Giving.

As we look forward to the 2014 campaign, we are so grateful to each and every one of our St. Jude supporters. Thank you to everyone for participating in the 2013 St. Jude Thanks and Giving campaign!
